The Mountain, Hafþór ”Thor” Björnsson, is known for his incredible strength, towering physique, and role in Game of Thrones — but it’s his relationship with his ”tiny” wife that’s leaving everyone talking.
Now, she answers the one question everyone keeps asking.
Describing Hafþór’s size is nearly impossible without underestimating it. His arms? They’re far beyond the metaphor of tree trunks — they’re truly extraordinary. With biceps measuring 17 inches, a 45-inch waist, and a chest that spans 63 inches, his sheer size is mind-boggling. Even his fingers look like they’ve been sculpted for strength.
In 2014, Hafþór Björnsson’s life took a major turn. The Icelander, known as the third most decorated strongman in history, decided to try his hand at acting.
Things got real when he was cast as Ser Gregor ”The Mountain” Clegane in Game of Thrones Season 4, opening up an entirely new world for him.
Starred alongside Mike Tyson
At first, though, he thought someone was messing with him. When the casting team called while they were filming in Iceland, he couldn’t believe it.
”I thought it was some kind of joke. I had no acting experience,” he recalled. ”I was just a big dude competing in Strongman.”
Björnsson’s imposing figure and unforgettable role on the hit TV series have made him a global sensation. He stayed on for several seasons and in 2015, he was also cast in the lead role for the debut season of the Philadelphia Renaissance Faire. There, he played ‘King Thor,’ the fierce leader of a Viking raiding party set on capturing the city of Amman.
