This boy lost his famous dad at 16 – now, he’s a proud gay man and father
Christopher struggled with how to come out to his family, especially given his mother’s Christian beliefs. He eventually shared the news with his mother, who initially reacted with tears and self-blame but later came to accept and support him. Christopher felt it was important to challenge his mother’s beliefs, and he found that his other relatives were more accepting than he had anticipated.
Christopher later learned from Cindy that his father had likely known about his sexuality, as Michael had mentioned his suspicions to her, according to an interview he gave to national gay and lesbian magazine The Advocate in 1999. Cindy recounted: “Apparently, he just told her out of the blue, ‘I think he’s gay, but I’m sure he’ll come to that conclusion on his own.’”
Now, Christopher has fulfilled his promise to live fully and has welcomed two sons, Beau Landon-Morris and August Kelly Landon-Morris, into his life. Although he continues to face challenges, he has built confidence and found support from his family and friends.
