And then, just one day after a potential split went public, Kidman officially filed for divorce in Tennessee, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
Despite the shock to fans, legal documents and insider reports indicate that the couple had been preparing for this moment well in advance.
People reports that the parenting plan outlining the shared custody of their daughters was signed by Kidman on Sept. 6 and by Urban on Aug. 29.
Family law expert Marilyn Chinitz, who is not involved in the case, told People, “They have absolutely worked this out long before they ever made their announcement.”
As for custody arrangements, the star of Big Little Lies requested to be the primary residential parent, proposing that the children reside with her for 306 days per year, compared to 59 days with the “One Too Many” singer.
