What follows is a chaotic and comedic battle of wits between Kevin and two burglars, Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern), who set their sights on the family’s upscale suburban Chicago home.

In the film, the McCallisters host family members the night before their international trip, all comfortably situated in a massive Georgian-style home.
The next morning, the entire extended family is shown rushing to the airport for a flight to France – a trip presumably paid for by Kevin’s parents. The question of finances has led to years of speculation online.
